Making beer is the best when the only bottle you have to clean, sanitize and fill is just one big keg. Cornelius style kegs allow any brewer to take the spoils of brewing and serve up that sweet brew. Homebrewers usually work with Cornelius (or Corny) style kegs. There are two main styles of Corney keg posts including pin- and ball-lock.
The Pin Lock has pins that stick out on the connectors of the keg to hold the fittings on. Pin-lock style keg post are sometimes refered to as Coke [brand] style keg posts.
Ball-lock keg posts are refered to as Pepsi [brand] keg posts. Under each of these main keg style categories exist different groups of manufactureres of each keg post style. For Ball-lock kegs you will find Cornelius Spartan, Cornelius Super Champion, Cornelius R-style, Firestone V, Firestone VI, Firestone Challenger, Firestone Super Challenger kegs.
If you are rebuilding a keg you can start by replacing the o-rings/gaskets on both the liquid and and gas post and on the keg lid. When you replace the gaskets, use some keg lube and soak them in warm water then use them.
